Aubert Hall Marine Science Laboratory & Chemistry Renovation - Univ. maine

Orono, ME

Project Description:  Extensive renovations were performed in this prominently positioned building on the campus quad at the University of Maine. Phased work was required to transform a portion of this building into two Marine Science labs and three Chemistry labs. As a fast-track project, a high level of coordination was needed between the architect, engineers, construction manager and Owner. A vast network of new HVAC systems had to be efficiently configured to accommodate a significant investment of new laboratory equipment. The heavy focus on efficient systems design resulted in savings on operational costs for the owner. Also, the project gave new life the building's exterior through removals of overgrown vegetation, ductwork and lead paint. All of which resulted in a safe, attractive and highly equipped facility ready to serve the university and pursuit of the sciences.
